Volleyball Interview with Dustin Hendersen

Dustin Hendersen
“Volleyball is my favorite sport.” says Dustin Hendersen. Dustin is an eighth grade student at Sunridge Middle School and the only boy on the girl’s volleyball team. This was his first year playing the sport, and he made the A team. Dustin is not only a great volleyball player, he is a great student who cares about learning and being active. That is why I chose to interview Dustin; he is a good person and very interesting.
The first questions I asked Dustin were all about how he felt and the positive sides of playing volleyball and being on the team.  Overall, did you enjoy being on the team?  Dustin replied by explaining he enjoyed being on the team because he had fun playing, and it is his favorite sport. Dustin had a smile on his face the whole time and seemed very happy and excited to talk about volleyball again. When I asked Dustin how it made him feel to get to play volleyball and be apart of the team he responded by saying it made him feel great because there is not a boys team at Sunridge, so it was good to practice with some more people.

Next, I asked Dustin about his past and future with volleyball. Is this your first year playing volleyball? Yes, this is my first year playing Dustin explained. What made you want to play volleyball? Do you have any past experience with it? Camps, I haven’t had much. I wanted to play because it looked really fun and I am glad I decided to try out. Lastly, I asked Dustin if he plans on playing next year and he said if he can, he will.

Interviewing Dustin was a really cool experience. It was great our school allowed him to practice with the team, even if he couldn’t play in games. While I was interviewing Dustin, he added he would like to start a boy’s volleyball team because there are other boys like him who want to play volleyball and would like to play in games as well as practicing with a team. Dustin is very passionate about volleyball and loves the game. Now, he will keep practicing and preparing for next year. I am glad I got to talk one-on-one with such a magnificent, special person.
