One in a Million

Bucket List? Lots of people have them but what are they? A  bucket list is a list of achievements or accomplishments that a person wants to achieve in a lifetime. They call it a bucket list because people  have a saying if they're going to have the buckets kicked, you are going to die. People have a bucket list because they want to do things that most people might not have a chance to do in a lifetime. For example, a good amount of people want to go to the Grand Canyon because it is one amazing geography feature to see. Most people can have a bucket list of anywhere between one to infinity. I have a few things on mine as well. The one I am going to talk about is very interesting. I chose these places because they are truly amazing places.

Some day I would like see the eight wonders of the world. The eight wonders are 1. Taj Mahal, India 2. Giza Necropolis, Egypt 3. Petra, Jordan 4. Colosseum, Italy 5. Chichen Itza, Mexico 6. Machu Picchu, Peru 7. Great Wall of China, China {8. Christ the Redeemer, Brazil.} I would some day like to visit these places because, someday I want to be a Social Studies teacher and I am very interested, especially in Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro. Christ the Redeemer interests me because it's 98 ft tall, on a 26 ft wide pedestal, arms 92 ft wide and 700 short. The statue is located on the Corcovado Mountain in the Tijuca Forest, the Corcovado Mt. is roughly 2,300 ft tall. The statue is a symbol of Brazilian Christianity; it has become an icon for the amazing city of Rio de Janeiro it was built  between 1922 and 1931, created by a French sculptor Paul Landowski. The statue was completed in 1931 October 12. Christ the Redeemer is a amazing statue; it symbolizes that Christ loves all people. Visiting this place is definitely in my future but achieving it will take some time and patience for the plan to come together, money.

Some other interesting information is in 2010 it was vandalized by being spray painted. The building material is soap stone and reinforced concrete, and it came from Sweden. The statue was struck by lightning in 2008 but not much was hurt due to the soapstone which acted as an insulator but, however the smaller parts fingers eyebrows got a little damaged. I plan to achieve this by the time I am 25. It is 6,819 miles from Portland, Oregon so I plan to start accumulating money once I am out of high school. I also plan to take Spanish in high school. This will affect me in the way that I will have a better understanding of culture and faith. Traveling to this place will help me as a social studies teacher in the way that I will have a better understanding of history.
