Local Baker

Today I interviewed a local baker and director of Umatilla County Community Justice , Mark Royal. His hobbies are playing music and baking bread. The reason I chose Mark was because his job is in the same field as my career goals. He says the reason he likes his job is because has the opportunity to help people and build friendships.

Mark says the reason he chose the job was because it is a government job and he wanted a good retirement. He explained that there's a good amount of job opportunities in criminal justice. Mark is responsible for parole and probation on both the adult and juvenile side. From  the information i've gathered he is a busy man.

I asked what the most interesting thing that has happened to him on the job and he said probably interaction with other people. Do you have a daily schedule I asked? He then told me how some days he is going to meetings, and he also sets goals for the department and manages employees. He said his advice for a juvenile pursuing this career was to make sure and get a college education in criminal justice and volunteer.

After talking to Mark it makes me want to pursue becoming a parole and probation officer and with that information it will give juveniles an idea on what a job in criminal justice is like.
