Mark says the reason he chose the job was because it is a government job and he wanted a good retirement. He explained that there's a good amount of job opportunities in criminal justice. Mark is responsible for parole and probation on both the adult and juvenile side. From the information i've gathered he is a busy man.
I asked what the most interesting thing that has happened to him on the job and he said probably interaction with other people. Do you have a daily schedule I asked? He then told me how some days he is going to meetings, and he also sets goals for the department and manages employees. He said his advice for a juvenile pursuing this career was to make sure and get a college education in criminal justice and volunteer.
After talking to Mark it makes me want to pursue becoming a parole and probation officer and with that information it will give juveniles an idea on what a job in criminal justice is like.
