Teacher or Babysitter

IMG_7468221748248.jpegKatherine Rider is an astonishing person, and she has a special job that you would probably would say I wouldn't want to do that ,but she loves her job. Recently, I had interview her about her job. To start the interview I asked her what her job was and she said,”I'm an intensive learning center teacher for life skilled deprived special kids who need help’’. If you want to have this job you must have a Masters in Special Ed and a teacher's license.
Later on I asked  katherine if she ever has behavior problems with the kids she teaches and she told me that she doesn't really have problems with her kids it is mostly just they all have communication problems which leads to behavior problems sometimes. If you are ever gone from work for a day or two do you worry? She replied with yes very much because her kids do not adapt well to changes and so if there isn't the right kind of sub it can get very chaotic .I asked her what her favorite thing to do at work and she replied, "I like to work in the sensory room with my kids." I asked her what a sensory room is, and Katherine told  me that a sensory room is like an indoor playground were her kids go if they are too stressed out  and it will help calm down. She told me that she would do this  as her job for the rest of her career but not necessarily a life skills teacher.
So in the end I thought the interview went very well and that teaching can be hard but also it matter on what kind of kids you have.I'm not planning to do this as a future job but what I realized is that I respect her more for what she does because its harder than a regular teaching job. But someone needs to teach the kids who need a lot more help than others, even though it could be more difficult at times.
