Basketball, the third most popular sport in the world and loved by many. What some people don’t really know is that basketball takes time, effort, and skill to make yourself better. This is what Sunridge Middle School’s, Austen Fell, does to become better. Before each game he plays, Austen has good-warms up and boosts his confidence up to be ready by play time. While he plays, Austen takes the ball down the court and sets up the play. This being the point guard. Now that his seasons over, he has some insight to share with us.
Although Austen shares his love for basketball, that’s not all he likes to play. He plays baseball and football because he wants to stay active and play year-round. I asked him about the people on his team and if he liked them and he said, “ Yes, I like most of them, but some I don’t because they’re not very nice to me.”
Speaking of basketball players, Austen claimed that his all-time favorite player was Kobe Bryant because he has always watched and looked up to him ever since he was little. He also said that he’s passionate about playing basketball because it allows him to stay healthy and active. After this, our interview was almost over.
To conclude, most people would say Austen’s season went well. He told me that his favorite memory was that they only lost one game and that the Hermiston team that usually beats them by 20 points only beat them by five! Austen also commented that his goals for the future was to play for college basketball or football at any Pac-12 college. I asked how he's going to achieve this and he stated, “I will have to work hard and get good grades at school.”
Essentially, Austen seems to have a pretty bright future ahead of him.
