Career Fair

Career Fair
Very few kids realize they are the future for their country. Many don’t have an idea of what career they want to go into when they get out of school. Some don’t even know how valuable education can be when it comes to getting a job.
Today, November 4th, 2014 at the Convention Center in Pendleton Oregon, the Career Fair is taking place. The Career Fair’s goal is to help teenage students who are almost at the age to be able to get their first jobs, how to pursue their future career goals. Most of the students that are here today are 8th graders from Sunridge Middle School, along with a few other students from around the area. There is many companies and big corporations such as Costco, Wildhorse, Navy, ODFW, and many more spread throughout the gymnasium floor who are ready to answer questions for the many students coming here today in search of a future career.
Sunridge Middle School 8th grader, Makayla Fossek fills you in on some of her favorite booths, “My favorite booths would have to be the college booths since they can give me information on how to get further education past high school.” She also tells us what booths are the most popular with her fellow students, “Lots of kids like the Wildhorse booth the most because it has free chocolate dipped strawberries and marshmallows.  Also kids like the Tillamook booth since they are giving away free cheese.”

Everyone wants their children to exceed in life, but the only way to exceed is to work.  Don’t you think it would've been easier for you if you knew what career you wanted to go into? Wouldn't it also be easier if you didn't have to go around and work so many meaningless jobs just to finally find one you enjoyed? That is what conventions like the Career Fair help your children with. It’s so important that your children get information about the certain requirements or degrees needed for their career choice, best colleges for that career, cost of that college, and so much more. All of this is just a taste of the future they will have to face. It helps so much more when you can get prepared mentally and physically for the demands of a successful career.
