Stephanie Machado is a worker at the company Partnerships in Community Living(PCL) to help with people with disabilities. She got the job before she graduated from college in June. “I decided to take this job because I love helping people”, she said. Stephanie chose to do this job because she had did not have any other job options, so she just chose the only job I had an offer from. I decided to do an interview about her because I wanted to learn more about her job and what exactly she does. “I chose this job to get me through school and because I enjoy helping people.”
What kinds of things do you do at your job? Stephanie answered,
“ I transport people to where they need to go, help them with hygiene routines, prepare meals, and keep the individuals safe.”
She isn't assigned with big projects, but taking individuals to medical appointments is a big one. What is the hardest thing you've done at your job?
Stephanie answered with, “the hardest thing I have done would be managing crisis situations, like using approved physical techniques to keep them safe when they are in behaviors."
What is your favorite things to do at work?
“I enjoy taking individuals to the zoo, or beach, or just driving around are my favorites.”
If you could change anything about where you work, what would you change? She answered saying that something she would change about her work would be the amount of money she makes for all the things that she does. Have you ever wished you picked a different job?
“Yes and no because it’s not something I want to do my whole life, but I enjoy doing what it takes to keep the individuals happy!” Do you regret your choice in this job?
“Not really, because it’s not something I’m going to my whole life, but it’s fun to help people!"
I learned a lot more about my sister and where she works, what she does and something that she likes to do. I learned that her job is something that is helping a lot of people, and thinking about that makes me happy. Her job isn't something I would want to do my whole life, but it is something I would take into consideration, since helping people is something I like to do. I want to thank my sister Stephanie for teaching me a lot.
