What is on a bucket list?….. Well, a bucket list is a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime. People should have bucket lists because it can show you that you are constantly discovering who you are and show you how much you have accomplished in what seems to be your short life. In the earlier years of creating the bucket list they buried your bucket list with you. The common term bucket list originates from the term “kicking the bucket” or things you want to do before you die. My bucket list consists of

  • Going to times square on NYE
  • Going to a professional photoshoot
  • Going to college
  • Making it on to my high school Dance Team
  • Going to see the HOLLYWOOD sign with my friends
  • Graduating from High School
  • Paris!!!!
  • ✶Getting my stunts down for dance
  • Getting over my fear of Needles
  • Going to the Space Needle with family

Mostly my focus is on making it on to my high school dance team and getting my scorpion, needle, and bow and arrow. A Bow and Arrow: (Stunt) much like the heel-stretch, the bow-and-arrow is a fully-extended stunt where the flyer stands on one straight leg and holds the foot of her unsupported leg with her opposite hand in an extremely "stretched" position. The other arm is in half a "T" motion. The bow-and-arrow is a variation of the heel strech common in dance. Needle: (Stunt) an inverted stunt position where the partner extends one leg vertically while pulling their body down to the supported leg. The head of the partner is below waist level or no partner needed; only a spotter. Scorpion: (Stunt) A fully-extended stunt where the flyer stands on one leg and holds the foot of her unsupported leg behind her head (with both hands) in an extremely arched position. You can also do this when your are standing on the ground. The scorpion is a variation of an arabesque and backward heel stretch. You need to be well stretched in your legs, back and arms. I suggest if you have your splits and can arch back and reach your leg and hold it then you have the flexibility to do all of these. The strength is the difficult part. You have to be able to stand on one leg while on the ground or while up in the air without wobbling. This is a very important part to your success in these stunts.

Now that I have the basic skills I will be able to wow the judges. Now the only advice is to smile big and keep up on the flexibility that this takes. This will effect me in the future by allowing more of a chance to make it on my high school team and that everything takes time and determination. I certainly will be able to be a little more confident in my dance/cheer abilities when I try out.
