School Aid

Mrs. Duchek is a school aid for the Sunridge Middle School in Pendleton, Oregon. She has been working in the Pendleton School District for a total of twenty-two years, two years at Hawthorne one year at the Pendleton High School, and nineteen years at Sunridge Middle School. “I always liked working with this age group”, she said referring to the middle school.

Mrs. Duchek does many activities for the middle school such as working one on one with students and helping teachers. Besides all of that she supervises in open gym, the commons and at lunch. All of those activities are packed into a seven hour fifteen minute work schedule five days a week. Out of all the activities she does her favorite ones to do are working in open gym, and getting to talk to people. On the other hand her least favorite thing while working to do is to discipline a student because she doesn’t know if the student is having a bad day, and that is why they are acting the way they are.

Through the years she has acquired a lot of knowledge and has gotten very good at her job. This is what she has that makes her so good. She has a sense of humor, the courage to admit when she is wrong and say sorry, but most of all she cares about the students. “The students know if you don’t care” said Mrs. Duchek. In summary Mrs. Duchek has worked at the middle school for a long time, and is very good at it because she cares about all the students.
