Trip to the E.O.

It was an exciting trip to the E.O.
Mrs.Webster's class came to visit  the E.O. on October 29, 2014. The experience was to help them become better reporters. So all of their questions they had for them were very good questions. One of the questions was, “ What do you do if you mess up on one little thing in the newspaper?" Daniel explained to them that they would have to start all over, and that happens a lot Tim says. They told them about the history of the E.O. and what the machines that we work with do.
Daniel showed them this Let 'er Buck trophy and the first amendment freedom of speech painted on the wall. They took pictures of those things and the Oregon Newspaper Publisher's Association Century Roster in the lobby. As they walked down the hall which a lot of the Oregonians first place prizes where the kids thought it was cool because they had won quite a few. Daniel showed them where they work at and then the kids went into this room in the back and all the kids sat at the tables. They showed them photographs and the online Oregonian. Daniel,Tim and Ej all  talked about what they do and what their strengths are and what they do best. Daniel the main editors biggest strengths is being an editor he does all the editing for the newspaper.
EJ was the photographer he had been there since 2002. He taught the kids how to take better photos from different angles, ” It shouldn't be just one thing your eye should go to it should be more than just one thing in a picture." The kids seemed to be more intrigued in what he does.Tim was a reporter he told the class about what he did as he held his coffee mug in his hand. That was his biggest strength reporting, yet he could do the journalism and do photography as we'll. They learned about how to write on a blog as well.
After Tim,Daniel, and EJ were done talking they went to the newspaper room. Daniel followed behind when this man with bright blue eyes told them about the machines and what they do. He told them that the Oregonian makes 30,000 newspapers an hour and they only need to make 7,000 a day. He told them what colors are in the newspaper which is blue and red.He showed the kids the big stack of newspaper all rolled up. He told the class that if the building caught on fire the paper would take a long time to burn. You would think it would be the first thing to burn because it's thin paper, but it's packed together so tight that no air can get through it and its all rolled up in to big thick stacks. Faith Akers one of the students from Mrs.Webster's class said," It was a fun trip and it was cool to get out of 8th period at school. Gabby Lifferth another one of Mr.Websters students says that "I learn a lot on this trip and this is going to help me out a lot for my publications class."
