The Angel of Basketball

When people play basketball and they miss a shot or hit the ball out of bounds they usually get frustrated or angry when they make that mistake. Well, 13 year old Giovana Angel lives far beyond these words. She started basketball on a team in 7th grade, but basketball has been her favorite sport since she was little. She looks up to Kevin Durant because he inspires people to live their dreams and to move forward in basketball. When she plays basketball she stays positive and she doesn’t get mad at her team mates. Just like everyone else, she gets frustrated but she tries hard not to show it. With all her hard work Giovana made it to the 8th grade girls A team.
To start the interview I asked her about what got her to play basketball and why she likes it. “What do you like about basketball? “I get to travel far places and be with my friends”,  Giovana said. She loves to hangout with her friends on the school bus to the game. When I had asked Giovana how she got to basketball and what got her to play she explained that all her friends said she was good at it so she played it. Giovana said one of her favorite highlights of her basketball seasons was that when she made her first three pointer. It was the first three she had made in her basketball games. She had the power of the basketball in her hands.
People have skills or team skills they have to work on when they play basketball. Giovana is the same way. She says that she needs to improve on her dribbling when she plays. The way she will improve this is by practicing getting to the hoop. “Do you think your team could have better teamwork”? I asked. “Our team needs to work on our passes and play”, She stated. Giovana said that her team needs to work on plays and passes and they will have to try harder at practice. Giovana has strengths and weaknesses. A strength that she has is going for a layup and making it. A weakness is not having enough confidence in herself to shoot the ball. She would like to shoot the ball more than passing it.

When the interview was coming to an end, I started to ask her about her future in basketball and where she wants to be in her basketball career. One goal was that she wants to make more than 4 points in a game. She will achieve this goal by getting the ball more and taking more shots. Giovana said that she might see herself in the future playing basketball but she also wants to achieve her dream of being an actress. I have learned a lot of things about Giovanna  and her basketball career. If you want to talk to someone about basketball talk to Giovana Angel. She’s the angel of basketball.
