The Most Interesting Man in the World

This man advertises on TV his name is Jonathan Goldsmith. The advertisements feature a bearded, debonair gentleman roughly in his 70s. Goldsmith was born on September 26, 1938, in New York. His mother was a Conover model. He was a Jewish man. People say he once taught a barking dog to bark in Spanish. He never says anything taste like chicken not even chicken. He never has his shirt wrinkled. He is left and right handed. The police often question him, just because they find him interesting. His reputation is expanding faster than the universe. He owns 3 sports cars and rents 5. He once brought in $13 million at a charity bachelors auction. This is why Jonathan Goldsmith is so interesting!

The World Ice Golf Championships

The world ice golf championships are held in Uummannaq, Greenland. It started

in the year of 1997 and has been going every year since. The world ice golf

championships are located on the frozen Arctic Ocean; the golfers compete on

glaciers, and icebergs. The course is different every year though because the

glaciers and icebergs that slowly moves around from year to year. Playing golf on

a frozen land would be hard but it is not just the landscape that makes it difficult,

the green is white since it is frozen ice and snow and the ball is fluorescent orange

so they don’t lose it, plus there is an unlikely risk of losing the ball to a polar bear.

Even though golfing sounds difficult on ice it sure sounds fun and I would love to

try it.

Softball

Softball
I interviewed Stacy Fitzpatrick on some questions she likes and dislikes about softball. This is what I got: Her favorite thing about softball hitting because she always hears the fans cheer and it gets her blood flowing. She doesn’t like grounders because she never knows where the ball is going to land until it gets there. If she were to choose a different position it would be right field because, she really like pop flies.  She first seen herself in the pitcher’s position because, it was her dream position as a kid. She doesn’t want to see herself playing in the position of center field because, she doesn’t want to run right, left, forwards and backwards trying to catch the ball. She is best at catching the ball on first base and best at batting. She is not good pitching, shortstop, center, catcher, watching second base nor third base. But she still enjoys playing softball.

Shoni and Jude Schimmel: Their Journey to the Final Four

www.971thefan.com
Shoni and Jude Schimmel, coming from the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Mission, Oregon. Wow! That was the first thing I said when I saw them play basketball. They were just so good, it’s like they were connected with the sport. I heard that they didn’t want to play basketball at the same college. Today, they are both playing at Louisville being very successful. Shoni went to Louisville first and then Jude followed her a year later. Where they are today couldn’t be more better. They are headed for the Final Four by their team doing amazing. But one memorable move by Shoni was an amazing move on Brittney Griner. She went right at Griner, the 6-foot-8 Baylor star who counts the NCAA blocks record among her many career achievements and Shoni went airborne, spun with her back to the basket and sunk an over-her-head shot while getting fouled. Anyone who was watching couldn’t help but cheer for her. It was an awesome move and got a spot in the top achievements for the tournament. They won that game 82-81. No one would think that Louisville, ranked fifth would beat Baylor, but the amazing thing is that they really did. Their next step for going to the Final Four was going up against Tennessee who is ranked second in their bracket which was no problem since they just beat Baylor, who was ranked first. Jude had made a great appearance scoring 15 points only behind her sister's 24 points against Tennessee. After the Lady Vols climbed back from being behind them from 20 points to get within three, Shoni had a pair of driving layups and Jude hit a three-pointer and assisted on a layup during the Cardinals' game-clinching response. They won that game 74 to 59. They made it to the Final Four. They would be playing California in New Orleans. California is now ranked second in their bracket thanks to Louisville for beating Tennessee. Of course Shoni was a starter and made a great first impression of the game! Then Jude came in and tried a three pointer but just didn't make it. She was taken out if the game and looked pretty mad to me. I knew it wouldn't last for long because Shoni would make her little sister feel awesome after doing incredible! But then after a while Louisville got behind and I started getting worried! We saw that their Mom, Cece and Dad, Rick were getting worried too. But never fear the Schimmel sisters are here! The game started getting really good but by half time they were behind 10 points, 27 to 37. Half time is over and about 8 minutes into the second half the score is 39 to 45. I'm getting anxious and really hope they can pull it together! The sisters are doing pretty well getting the ball down the court and. Stealing the ball but the team is not making the best passes. Antonita Slaughter also on the Cardinals is making tons of three pointers and getting them closer to their goal. 3:40 left in the game and it's 53 to 52, the first time they are a ahead since it was 10 to 8. Now tied 57 to 57, it's getting really intense! There is 32 seconds left in the game I literally need my inhaler to keep breathing! It's 60 to 57 and the California Golden Bears put in Makayla Lyles because she can almost shoot three pointers with her eyes closed, that is how good she is at them! She shoots a three and doesn't score. There is 4 seconds in the game and it's 62 to 57. Jude gets the ball and gets fouled! She makes both free throws and wins the game for the Lady Cardinals giving them 64 to 57. The looks on the girls' faces and the looks on the Schimmel parents' faces is something I will never forget! They are now going against the winner of Uconn and Notre Dame. They now have a chance of being the NCAA Women's Basketball Champions which is where the Schimmel sisters exactly belong. Uconn won and now are going against Louisville for the championship. It was a tough game for the Lady Cardinals, but they lost by a lot, 60 to 93. Uconn won and the girls got second place. Uconn has won eight times in a row now and it wasn’t much of a surprise that they won. Both teams did well and now Louisville has a chance next year to become the NCAA Girl's Basketball Champions.

Four Wheeler Riding

That exhilarating rush you feel when the wind whips at your face and the sun is shining all around you. This is what I feel when I do one of the most desirable things in my life: four wheeler riding. Ever since I can remember, riding has been a regular thing for my family. Every weekend we would go up to the mountains for the day and ride to our hearts content. Through ages two to five, I would ride on the front of my dad’s four wheeler and fall asleep. My head, encased in a helmet of course, would bounce on the gas cap forever and I would never wake up. As I got older, I inherited our smallest four wheeler that my oldest brother named Little Blue- after it’s size and color. Though, no matter how small, that little four wheeler could go anywhere and get there fast. Whenever my dad would mention a four wheeler ride, I immediately felt like a child waiting for Christmas. However, instead of sugar plums, I thought of big mud puddles and the next trail we would take. Though we don’t go as often as before, I still accept the challenge and welcome it whenever the opportunity comes.

SUMMERFIELD VICTORY!!!

LINK
Near the beginning of the school year, Mr. Summerfield’s homeroom class won the tug-of-war contest. When asked how they felt about the victory, the response was immediate. Some of the students said it felt amazing, while others said they felt like champions. One student said that she felt that it was great, because they are all new at this school, so it felt spectacular that they made an impression. When prompted to relive the last battle, the class of champions recalled that they were winning, then started to fall behind from being sleepy and tired from the work. At the last minute they managed to pull it together (pun intended) and make one last huge tug, winning the championship. When asked to rate the tug-of-war with the Brizendine Olympics (spelling names, shoe size, and birthdays) and 3-on-3, almost all the class voted the tug-of-war as their favorite event.

Armstrong Tartan

Armstrong Tartan
The name Dickerson is my last name. It is Welsh. But I am not a Dickerson by blood, I am a Stringfellow. Stringfellow is the American adaptation of Stongfellow. Strongfellow is Scottish. The Strongfellows were a military of the Armstrong clan on the border between Scotland and England. The Armstrongs ruled most of the lowlands of Scotland. The was one instance when an English Duke place his herd of sheep in the care of some Strongfellow shepherds. When he did this the Shepherd decided to hide the sheep in the woods to scare the Duke. I have the name Dickerson because my grandfather was adopted so when this happened he adopted the last name. So now I am a Dickerson.

Bailey Kannier

Bailey Kannier is funny, smart, outgoing, down to earth and kind. She says if she ever won the lottery she would probably buy two mansions. One for her family and one for her friends, “they would have secret tunnels that only her friends and her friends would know about.” If she could be any animal in the entire world she would be a monkey because they get to swing around in trees and play all day long. She says that her and her closest friends enjoy riding bikes, playing with her littlest pet shop, and watching movies on netflix. If she could choose to switch places with anyone in the world she would with Taylor swift “because she is very pretty and a really good singer.” Her favorite all time thing to do during the summer is go to the swimming pool because she gets to hang out with her friends and she can cool down in the refreshing water. Her favorite food is chicken nuggets she claims that “ they are the best things she has ever put into her mouth and that they’re delicious.” She is planning on becoming a veterinarian because she really enjoys being around animals and they make good money. If she had the option to either travel back in time or go into the future she would choose to travel forward “because if anything bad happened in the future she could change the outcome.” Bailey kannier is a very sweet girl, she is willing to do anything for anyone to put a smile on their face.

Honey

Honey, the passion food of the world. Honey is created when Honey bees transform nectar into honey by a process of regurgitation and evaporation. They store it as a primary food source in wax honeycombs inside the beehive. Honey has a long history of human consumption, and is used in various foods and beverages as a sweetener and flavoring. There are many different uses for honey but here are 10. Honey can be used to cure ulcers from stress because it covers the stomach lining. Honey can be used by people with HIV as an immune booster. Honey can be used as an energy drink when mixed with orange juice and water. Honey improves blood flow to the brain. Honey can help sooth a sore throat. Honey and Vinegar solution can be used to remove worms from the body. Honey can help relieve nervousness. Honey prevents heart disease. Honey can also be used as an adhesive. There are hundreds of uses but honestly I don’t know them all. But I challenge you to find them all and use them.

Curse of the Hope Diamond

Do you believe in superstitions or curses? If so, the curse of the Hope Diamond may be of interest to you, as well as a disappointment. Currently, the Hope diamond is kept in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, but has traveled around the world since being found in India during the seventeenth century. According to accounts from the Victorian era, the Hope Diamond was believed to curse all who touched it with bad luck and much misfortune. This curse, while believed to be made up for the purpose of giving the diamond mysterious qualities and more worth, has also been backed up with proof of bad luck coming to previous owners. Much proof of the Diamonds curse being true occurred during the French revolution. During this revolution, the diamond was believed to be the cause of the be-headings of the King and Queen of France, as well as the mutilation of Princess de Lamballe. Whether this curse is real or not is something no one will ever know, but just to be on the safe side... Do not touch the diamond!

Should Our Schools Be Subject to Random Searches

As you rush to your locker before class, you notice that school administrators are going through your locker. You think oh my gosh why are they doing this, they have no right to go through your locker.
You may think schools have no right to search your personal belongs or your locker but schools however feel differently. Schools feel that because they own the lockers they can do whatever they want with them. Some people are for the random searches while others oppose the idea of random searches. People who oppose the idea say it goes against the 14 amendment which states we cannot be subject to searches without the proper warrant. They also say that lockers are a students own personal space where they should be able to keep their belongings and not have someone search it. Schools argue that searches are for everyones safety. It helps insure that there are no drug or gun threats that could affect teens. In my opinion we should not be subject to random locker searches unless there is suspect of drug use or gun type threats. This could be an effective way to solve the problem of should we have random locker searches or not. It protects most students rights to the 14 amendment and gives students the feeling that they can keep their personal belongings in lockers without having to be searched regularly. It would also allow schools to do searches as necessary. So as you can see, random school searches is an on going issue that will never satisfy both parties in the issue.

A Fantastic Disney Character

Why did Donald Duck throw the butter out of his window?
He wanted to see the butter-fly.
When most people think of Donald Duck they think of Mickey Mouse too. It has been said that Mickey Mouse represents what we should be, while Donald Duck represents what we are. Believe it or not, Donald’s full name is; Donald Fauntleroy Duck. You probably know Donald’s love interest Daisy Duck and come to find out Daisy’s real name was Donna Duck. Donald Duck is old though, on June 9th 2013, Donald will be turning 79. Over the years Donald has appeared in 128 different cartoons. Also, in 2005, Donald received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The only bad thing is that Donald Duck comics were banned in Finland because he doesn’t wear any pants. Throughout all these years kids around the world have loved watching Donald Duck cartoons and kids still do to this day.

Funky Five Fingers

Being a girl of course I love shoes, but my favorite shoes are my green Vibram Five Fingers. It is always enjoyable when people ask me questions about them, but some questions I do not always have an answer too. Well with a little research I can now better explain these mysterious shoes to you.
The shoes were made to resemble a human foot. They are made of lightweight material, and have a thin flexible sole. I like the thin soles, they are light enough that I enjoy running in them and do not feel like I am weighed down by my shoes. The only factor about the thin soles I do not particularly like is that I can feel the heat of the asphalt on a hot summer day. The shoes were designed by Robert Fliri to find a better way to move around in nature better, and to provide better grip on outdoor terrain. The shoes come in various materials, ranging from a lighter material to a heavier material. I have the lightweight material, that easily dries when it gets wet, because I am always at the pool. If you enjoy hiking, you would prefer the heavier material, because it provides more protection on mountain trails. Although if you are looking at getting some of these shoes, you better be ready to wear them a lot as they are a little spendy. I enjoy my shoes and I am glad I have them, even if they do look a little odd.

At 30 years of age, he is the worlds youngest head of state. According to one site, “he was obsessed with basketball and computer games [when he was young]”(Kim Jong-un 1). There has been one confirmed assassination attempt on March 14, 2012 in response to the demotion of Reconnaissance General Bureau director Kim Yong-chol in November 2012. Numerous human right violations have been reported. They have Started with Jong-il and continued through Jong-un. These violations include ordering to kill defectors, public executions, and sending people to political prison camps. In addition, Kim Jong-un has threatened the United States multiple times with nuclear missiles yet as far as we can tell, they do not have the technology to reach us. Though he is not a threat as of now to the US mainland, he is someone we

Interview with Colin Rickman

Interview with Colin Rickman

A lot of people know Colin as being a goofy and silly kid, but no one really knows much about him. I decided to interview Colin Rickman, so people could get a closer inside scoop of his life. If Colin could be any superhero he would be spiderman because he can climb on walls and swing around on his webs! Colins best friend is his mom because he loves going to the store and cooking with her. He would go on any vacation as long as it’s nowhere near Pendleton. His favorite subject is history because he likes learning about the past. When people jump on him is his biggest pet peeve. He likes to wrestle, fight, eat, and make fun of people with his guy friends. He chose his glasses because he thought he looked sexy in them. He wouldn’t want a sister, but he would want a twin. He thinks it would be weird having a sister since he has his friends over a lot, and she would probably be annoying. Colin is a very interesting and funny guy and even cooler once you get to know more about him!
