The Best Financial Aid Ever

"Man that trip cost so much money and I have no idea how to accumulate the funds for the trip. I don’t even know how to plan or earn enough money to go on the trip." If this sounds like you then you are going to need some serious help.

The first step in financial advice is you need to know what your working for and how much money you will need. This is important because without the motivation to work you won't succeed at the level you might want to. It also means that some of the work you have to do isn't always necessarily fun by any means. When you have these two first principles you can move on to the next step, which is making new goals and start thinking about customers.

Having one goal is good because then you don't get overwhelmed by having too many goals. If you are having trouble thinking of a goal, try a goal, such as, working hard builds character and confidence.

Third, you have to keep track of your customers information. It is so crucial to keep track of the the information because if you lose it you have no way to tell when or what you are doing. A good way of keeping information is on a clipboard. Get their address and phone number so you know how to contact them. The second way is to have it on your phone and calender so it reminds you when and where to do the job.

The final is the money situation. Keeping your money safe and organized is crucial. From my point of view the best way to do that is keep it in a bank, in a savings account. A savings account is where you make deposits and very few deposits hence the name savings account.

This is financial advice that I have lived by so I hope you can learn from my tips.

Cooking Enthusiast

   If you are craving something to eat you don't always need to call for fast food. Before you become the couch, get up and do something about it. To get started cooking, there are a few basic steps to follow. 

The first step is to choose a recipe and then check if you have the needed food in your kitchen and if you don’t you might want to go over to the local store and buy some ingredients.

The next step is to check if you have cooking utensils like a frying pan,spatula,and all the basic cooking utensils for such types of food like pancakes,cookies, or banana bread. 

The next step is to start cooking what you want to eat. For example if you picked ramen noodles, you can use the microwave or the stove. If you choose the stove, boil for three minutes and turn off the stove. Enjoy your home cooked meal!

Getting To Know Michael

Here are a few things you might not know about ME! Last year I went to Seaside with my grandparents. When I lived in Alaska my family and I went through the ice sculpture forest. Last year I went through the corn maze.I enjoy looking at 3-dimensional art and making it. My name in French is Michel. 
My favorite hobbies are fishing,hiking,drawing,and creating things. A couple of things I like to do is help my father fix cars and trucks. My father works at the weather service, NOAA. My mother is a stay-at-home mom. 
I am allergic to Russian olive trees,yeast,and cheese.Sometimes I get lucky and find Japanese money and Canadian money.
My name is Michael Brooks. I was born in San Diego, California on the 26th of October. My favorite college is West Virginia  Mountaineers.
I am glad to be in publication's class and yearbook. A couple of things I bring to publications are photography and design.

Achieving Accuracy

When shooting a rifle with a goal of accuracy, trigger grip is very important. The pull is more of a  difference in pressure. I would recommend start with the slightest amount of pressure as possible then move up from there. If you didn't know already the trigger is the part of the rifle that starts the firing sequence. Once you pull the trigger, the firing pin strikes the bullet primer then ignites the gunpowder which causes the bullet to leave the casing.

The stock of the rifle has a big effect on how  accurate your rifle can shoot. The H-S Precision stock is a product on the market that increases the rifle's accuracy. Over the summer I have purchased the stock and I have been able to shoot through the same bullet hole over and over again. The stock works well by locking the inside of your rifle up tightly in the stock which does not allow any movement for the inner parts. If you have a scope available I would recommend using it  So on your next hunting trip, these tips should help you be more successful.

THE OLD LADY WHO ATE THE FLY RETURNS

                        

The little old lady did not know  what he was talking about so he told her that the cure is that you need to find a wicked witch and go to the house and knock on the door and say trick or treat. If the witch says treat you must not take any of the candy and then you must leave then go to the next house and if you go to the next house and they say trick you must eat the witch before she does the trick.It sounds really easy but beware if you do not eat a witch before Halloween ends, you will either have stomach problems for the rest of your life or you will die and that's that.

So the little old lady thanked him and then went off on her way so she went outside and got into her Prius and then started thinking "wait how am I supposed to find a witch?" because I mean I don't know how to find one so she went home and got on her computer and got on google and searched  up  where  are the   five closest witches in my area. Google gave her the nearest five witches so she got back in her prius and went to the first witch's house which the was the wicked witch of  the south. She goes up and she knocks on the door and then says " trick or treat". Well the witch said treat and so the old lady said no thank you that's not what I am looking for "good bye", and then she went next door to the wicked witch of the West. She knocked on here door and said "trick or treat" and the witch said "trick". The old lady was too slow to react and didn't get to eat the witch so she left and then went to the wicked witch of the east and then said "trick or treat". The witch said "treat" and then again she said no "thank you".

She then went to the last witch's house which was the wicked witch of the north and then the old lady just asked for advice and then after an hour of talking to the witch she found out that she was a witch too and then the the witch showed her how to make a spell that would make her stomach grow and not get smaller so the old lady lived happily ever after.

GOOGLE DOCS WITH PROBLEMS

Technology-- it can be very challenging,but if you really try to use it it won't be. Let's start with google,docs,drive,etc. So right now I'm going to talk about how to get a second account on almost all devices.

So a problem most of the time is going using google docs ,drive ,etc for school because teachers don't want you using your personal email which I can understand. Well if you do not have a computer at home you're probably going  to use your tablet or phone. so what you need to do is to download the google.doc app and the google drive app.You will need to install this to open it and then look at the account you have on there. If it is your personal email you need to get a second profile on there so you can do your work on a school email.

So what you want to do is go to your  web browser Safari, Google , etc then go to google and then where profile picture is on google go up to it and click on it and then click on manage accounts and then it will go to a different page that will have your account and then under your email it will say add accounts. You can add as many accounts that you need.

Hopefully this will help you if you have any problems with google docs and stay posted with k.o.t.n as we will post more technology advice.

Staff Member Interview

Riley: So today I am with Luke McDonald from Sunridge Middle School to interview him.Lets ask him a few questions. So where did you come from?

Luke: Well Riley I live in Pendleton and I have for the last fourteen years.

Riley: Tell us about some of the activities you do outside of school.

Luke : I basically do two sports which is cross country and track. Outside of school I love playing video games, glow in the dark soccer, and going on very long runs which are usually four to five miles.

Riley:Do you play any instruments?

Luke: Yes Riley, I play the violin and I hope to try and Learn how to play the guitar.

Riley: So why did you want to do publications class this year? Tell us the whole background.

Luke: I wanted to do publications because I thought it would be a good thing to do, because I would be able to make new friends do a lot of blogging and help design the yearbook for this year.

Riley: Do you plan on being involved in publications through high school.

Luke: Yes I am hoping to do this all the way through high school if I can.

Riley: So Luke can you tell us more about yourself?

Luke: Yes I can. I will tell you that I am 5'8" and I have long brown curly hair and I don't talk that much but that is because I am shy with people. But the more I get to know people the more l talk to people and am becoming more open with myself.

Riley: Well I need to ask you one more question before I end this interview, what kind of skills are you good at and do you think you can bring those skills to publications?

Luke:My skills are taking good photos, technology, and photo editing.

One Rough Ride

     Three things most people don't know about me are that I have to get shots every month because I have had a brain tumor, I have been to Alaska five times with my family, and I have to take medication for the rest of my life because of  my brain tumor. I was born and raised in Pendleton, Oregon. My hobbies are hunting, fishing, and camping. I also like playing cards with friends and watching action movies. I play baseball, basketball, and run cross country. My future goal is to be a middle school language arts teacher. 

    To complete my goal, I plan to go to Blue Mountain Community College, then to Eastern Oregon University to finish school. I am the middle child in a family of five.  The members of my family include my mom, dad, my two spectacular sisters and me.My sister's names are Maddie, a senior and Katie, a 6th grader.  We have two dogs and three cats. My name is Riley Kelm. I was born on June 7th, 2000 .
   I decided to take publications because I love photography and I enjoy writing and interviewing people. The second reason I chose to do publications is we have a blog we write on weekly. The third and final reason is our class does a couple pages and take the pictures for the year book. Lastly, the skills I bring to this class is that I take great photos.

He's Red Hot

When I walk down the hall you call me "Flames" or "Fefe" because I have red hair. Some of you may just know me by my actual name. My name is Austen Fell. I’m ‘5”2 1/2 105 lb. I play baseball, football, and basketball and I think I’m funny. I also have a cousin that goes to school with me, his name is Cam Sandford he is short like me and he plays all the sports that I play.

 

  I have two older sisters one is going to college at Central Oregon Community College, and my other sister is a sophomore and one younger brother is in the 5th grade. I have one dog her name is Precious and a fat cat named Max. I was born in Prineville,OR on February, 10, 2001. I moved to Pendleton when I was eight years old because my dad got a job at Craig's Office Supplies and my mom opened  her own daycare. The name of the daycare is Room to Bloom Daycare.

   My favorite teams for football, baseball,and basketball are, LA Dodgers, LA Lakers, and San Diego Chargers.  I am on a traveling baseball team named North East Oregon Bandits. I’m also on a traveling basketball team; we are the Pendleton hoops. I have shot one animal in my life and it was an elk . I have never traveled outside of the United States. I have been to Disneyland it was the most fun I have ever had in the 13 years I have been on earth. I would like to go to a PAC 12 college for either baseball or football. If I want to go to either of those colleges I will have to work hard in school and in sports. I will have to be thinking about my future always. Finally, I think that my strength in publications is taking pictures and editing photos.

I don’t know what I need or what I have to wear? I don’t know how  to play baseball? I don’t know where I can play or practice? If you have these questions then you need to talk to Austen he will be able to help you out.

Some places you can go to practice or play since it is an outside sport, is your backyard or a nearby park because there is plenty of space.

You will need a few supplies to practice or play baseball.

You will need a baseball glove and a baseball.You will also need a baseball bat and a baseball helmet.Other items you will need for baseball are baseball pants, baseball cleats rubber or metal, a hat, and a bat bag. You can get batting gloves but I don't use them because they are uncomfortable, but if you want gloves it can help with gripping the bat.

I think the most important thing about baseball is defense, because if you can’t get the batters out, your team won't be able to get up to bat to make points. When fielding a ground ball you need to be in an athletic position when the ball is hit to you go down like you are sitting in a chair, then you put your hand over your glove then you get lined up with the base and then throw to the base to get the runner out.

Vanilla Orange Cake

I chose this because I like to cook and bake desserts. The color also goes well with the Fall season.

First you need to get a bowl and something to stir the batter. Than you will need 1 cup of water, 2 eggs, and 1/2 cups of olive oil/vegetable, and the cake mix.You need to stir the batter. After you are done mixing, pour it in the pan then bake it in the oven at 400 degrees for 17-20 min. Take it out and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

This cake turned out great. It did not come out in the same shape as the picture shows, but it was really good.

When She Was Born

A baby was born in Pendleton,Oregon, raised only by her mom, Shana Alexander, because of the death of her father, Bryson Bronson. This “baby” has three sisters, Lexi (Cubbay) Bronson, Jacy Sohappy (Happy Canyon princess of 2002), and Maurice Bronson, as well as one brother, Brennan Sohappy (Happy Canyon stuntman of 2013), 
She doesn't know how she managed, but she did. She was constantly picked on for a skin condition that developed when she was nine years old, called vitiligo, which is where you lose the pigmentation of your skin, but never stopped smiling. Her dad was a jockey at one point and her uncle Punky who named a racehorse after her when she was three. 
Because she was born and raised near horses, she was kicked and stepped on. Her hopes are to follow in her father’s tracks and own a racehorse or two and plans to move to California. She is very creative as long as there is no unnecessary pressure put upon her.

Because of what she has experienced she gets lost in her books. It was her escape from the real world. As she progressed she started to watch the Teen Titans, Young Justice, and The Justice League even though she was still bullied in school for her vitiligo. She had her older sister Lexi (Cubbay) and her cousin Trinity Treloar to help her. Trinity has influenced her greatly. She was constantly reprimanded for her habit of dressing in guy clothes.

Trinity and her amazing hat (Oatis) has become more of a sister to her than a cousin. Her family is always there for her and she plans on doing the same for them. Her family made her who she is today. Her dad is one of her greatest motivations.
Being bullied helped her prove them wrong. Reading taught her to use her imagination. I am the product of what “that” baby went through so because of that I think I will be able to apply my creativity in publication's class. That girl is Chyenne Bronson.

Creating Free Writing

Free writing can be a frustration for some but a release for others. If you are one of those people who have a frustration with free writing, listen because this is a rather fun endeavour.  Writing freely will help spark your creativity and forces you to think differently.

A place to write is of utmost importance. Where you write should be well lit, quiet, and airy. An office or a study is

ideal but there are other alternatives such as: bedroom, computer room, etc. Really you can write just about anywhere you feel comfortable.

There are different lengths of writing. There long term writing and short term writing. Long term writing is where you are writing more than or equal to one page. Short term writing is usually less than one page. Double spacing should wait until you are done writing.

The tools you need or can use are a : pen, pencil, eraser, paper, or a laptop that has a typing application. Pencils, erasers, and paper are classics to use ,although know when to stop because you do not want to have a sore wrist (ouch). A laptop is a little more modern and common today. I personally love to use laptops to free write but that's probably because I have been writing and reading since I was three.

Your mind is another tool to be creative but it's okay to be logical also. So try this writing prompt: what is your opinion on a certain subject and why? And if that doesn't work just stop, wait, don’t move, you are thinking way too hard. Just relax keep your mind open to any other ideas, genres, or authors.  Plus you can’t just expect to get the hang of it right away. Give yourself a chance to feel the writing. All you really need to be able to do is believe what you're writing. Relax and give it a try!

Small Town Girl With Big City Dreams

Born in Pendleton, Oregon weighing only 4 pounds, 5 ounces being welcomed by a loving family. I was a very small baby at first but after some time I had those very chubby cheeks that the majority of babies have. When I was younger I was very happy and played outside 24/7 with my cousin; we both loved to drink chocolate milk and eat pizza outside of our houses. I’ve been to Mexico and a few states around Oregon. I am the youngest of all my siblings. I have one whole sister, one half brother, and one half sister,although I treat them no differently than my sister.
I learned Spanish and English at about the same time in my first few years of life, but I am still improving on both languages. When I was about six years old my oldest sister had a baby and so I grew up with a baby in the house. Later on she moved out and my other sister had a baby. I know a lot about children, so because of that I plan on not having a child until my late 20’s.
My parents split up when I was in about the 4th grade. It was pretty rough because about a year later my dad moved to Arizona to take care of my grandma. I was really sad but now understand why he did it. I now live with my mother and her boyfriend, although I may attend my last few years of school in Arizona with my dad because my sister is attending college there and I most likely will too. I'm not 100% sure what I will study yet but I  hope to figure it out soon. My favorite subject in school is art. I love to draw people and T.V. characters. 
I am one of the tallest girls in my grade at the moment, although it can get annoying at times  it makes me more confident. My favorite foods are pizza, doughnut,s and watermelon. I love to make new friends from other places. I love watching horror movies especially around Halloween. I really enjoy people that can make me laugh, That's why I am obsessed with Youtube and Vine. 
Most people think it's annoying that we are on our phones a lot and I can understand that when they are on it 24/7 but I think it's fine when it's not your first priority. I love my phone because it's what brings most of the happiness to my life and I am able to have contact with friends and family that don't live in Pendleton. 
I like to work with different kinds of technology and I think that will help a lot in this class. I think I will bring in a lot of different kinds of pictures to publications. I love to focus on one thing in a picture. Could you guess who this is? Her name is Meritza Arroyo..
