National Doughnut Day

Can you guess what happens on June 6th of this year?Let me help you out it's a day all about one single sweet. They are mostly round but sometimes different shapes. Some have sprinkles and some have jelly inside and some have glaze on top. Some have pudding and some have a maple frosting on top.If you have not guessed what I'm talking about I'll just have to tell you, it's a doughnut.Doughnut day got started by the Salvation Army when they served them during World War I in 1938.They served them in honor of the men and woman
who served in the front line during the war.A young doctor by the name of Morgan Petty stopped at the bakery and picked up 8 dozen doughnuts. When he got  to the base he would help the wounded and then give him/her a doughnut for free.He would also give the doughnuts to the needy. He decided to join the Salvation Army. They did not stop there. The salvation army decided to go to France.About 250 salvation army volunteers decided to help out.Soon many solders were visiting the Salvation Army  huts.Sheldon wrote of one day that was extremely busy. He wrote, “Today I made 22 pies, 300 doughnuts, 700 cups of coffee.”The workers were soon named “Doughnut Dollies.”In Chicago, National Doughnut Day is still a fundraiser for The Salvation Army.In the second World War, Red Cross Volunteers also distributed doughnuts, and it became routine to refer to the Red Cross girls as Doughnut Dollies as well.
I chose doughnut day because I love doughnuts. I also remember making them with my grandma. They bring back fun messy memories. Many people don't think wow I wonder...about the doughnut. They are very good and some people eat them every day.So next time when it's the first Friday of every June take some time to appreciate the doughnut.

National Cake Day

National cake day takes place on November 26th, it isn't a holiday we celebrate. Do you think we should celebrate it? This holiday was first discovered in the 1920’s when the first box of cake mix was made. The Betty Crocker cake mix was made in 1947, the “just add water” ones. I think this is an important holiday because cake is really good. I mean who doesn’t like cake? Do you think we should celebrate it? I chose this holiday because it sounded interesting to me! I had never heard of it before so I thought that I could learn something about it. It turns out that I chose this holiday and there was a lot to learn about it. Hopefully you learn something too.
What’s your favorite type of cake? Do you like your cake with filling? Do you like all the frosting and sprinkles and other like accessories on your cake? There is so many options for cake! They’re many different types of cake. From chocolate to lemon to raspberry filled to any type of filling. What do you prefer? Filled no filling? White, chocolate, lemon, raspberry, or carrot? Do you think we should celebrate this holiday? Some history of National Cake Day is the word cake came from a viking word called "kaka." Now if you ever feel like celebrating something special, add cake!

He says if there was a vote for girls to be on the football team he would vote NO! This year there was a girl on the football team and it was very awkward.
Brendon has to get in the mood for the game and how he does that is he listens to music. It calms him down. He finds it easy to play when he is in a good mood. He was born in September 25, 1999 and he is 14 years old. He loves playing football with his dad. He enjoys basketball and baseball as well. He just thinks football is more important to him. After college he wants to move to Florida and make shoes for Nike.He thinks it would be cool to see people wear his shoes that he created. It would make him feel good just knowing  that people will like what he can make.
Brendon can't wait till he has a family of his own. So they can experience everything great he will be able to do, not only with his life but his family's life as well. He also wants to go on family vacations and spend time with his family but he still wants his kids to have the space they need.

ice ice baby
June 7th, most people would think it is just a normal day, but it's National Ice Cream Day. On this day you get to eat all the ice cream you want ,what ever type fits you at that moment. On ice cream day you are to go outside and eat ice cream and yell loudly at the sun "I Love Ice Cream"!
Mrs. Mary Eagle is the inventor of the mouth watering creation, but the person to make this day is unknown and there is no evidence of who made this an official day. Ice Cream Day is important to me because my dad's birthday is on this great day and he loves ice cream. It's also important to me because  most people just like its a normal day, and I want to tell them they're wrong. I also chose this day because it seems like ice cream is slowly going away, I would hate a delicious creation to go away because it's so good and yummy!

National Beatles Appreciation Day

 Image Link
Beatles appreciation day is on February 21st  where beatlemaniacs all over the world pay their respects to the fab four. The fab four John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr better known as The Beatles took over the world with their mop top hair dues and much more. They first came to America in 1964 fearing they weren't as popular as they were in Europe, but they found out they were already well known when they arrived at the John F. Kennedy Airport. They were greeted by thousands of fans waving banners and posters. Now on this day Beatlemaniacs get together and listen to their albums, watch their movies, and just appreciate how they changed the music industry. This brings people from all ages together to celebrate the fab four.

I chose this day because I love the fab four and they have influenced my taste in music. They are all so unique individually and when they come together they’re great. This day is also just a fun relaxing day because you could just listen to their music all day or watch their films. My favorite thing about this day is remembering John Lennon and George Harrison. They both left a tremendous mark on this world before they passed away. John promoting peace in any way he could such as through his songs, growing your hair for peace, or bed peace (staying in bed to celebrate peace). All John’s ways of promoting peace didn't include any violence whatsoever and this is why he left his mark on the world. George Harrison  also left his mark in many ways. One way was doing charity concerts like his concert for Bangladesh. Therefore on this day give peace a chance and remember all you need is love.

Singles Awareness Day

Most people recognize February to be the month full of love and celebrating what you have with someone you admire. This is mostly because of Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Yes, this can be a great time of the year for people in a relationship, but for those of us who aren't, this time may bring you sorrow and unhappiness. There’s no reason to be in a sad mood though, February 15th, Singles Awareness Day, is just for those people in the world without a significant other.

Singles Awareness Day was created by Dustin Barnes, who yes, was single at the time. He wanted a day to celebrate with other single people and he wanted to kick back and enjoy not being with someone. Dustin also wanted a chance to have a day centered towards trying to find someone on an online dating site. So, when the time rolls around, and couples rub it in your face that you don’t have someone, show them that you could care less and celebrate Singles Awareness Day. This day is a great way to start up a relationship,so that next year when the “romance month” comes around, you can be the one celebrating Valentine’s Day instead of Singles Awareness Day. I thought this was a great day to recognize because most people do not realize that being single is not always a bad thing. Not to mention the fact that this day relates to me perfectly.

Hoodie-Hoo Day

Hoodie-Hoo Day
National Hoodie-Hoo Day is a day for people to have some fun. Hoodie-Hoo Day is on February 20th. On this winter day, people go outside at noon, wave their hands over their heads and chant “Hoodie-Hoo!” It is a day to welcome spring and say goodbye to winter.
I chose National Hoodie-Hoo Day because it seemed like a really fun day. It’s a day that I wish I could celebrate. Hoodie-Hoo Day seems like a really fun day to take off and just chant “Hoodie-Hoo” while waving your hands over your head. Hoodie-Hoo Day came to life because people thought that we needed a day to chase away winter and welcome spring time.

National Left Handers Day

Photo Link
National Left Handers Day is a day for the lefties to be recognized. On the 13th of August 1992 the Left Handers Club launched International Left-Handers Day. An annual event when left-handers everywhere can celebrate their sinistrality and increase public awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed. On this day left handers are to be recognized for their left handedness.
I chose this day because I am left handed, and more people should recognize left handers. The world is built for right handed people so there should be more left handed things. Examples  of this are your computer mouse, scissors, and can openers. You see these items are made mostly for right handed people. It is also more expensive to buy things made for left handed people. I think that if this day got more popular than things would cost the same. After all, they say everyone is born right handed, and only the greatest overcome it.

Show Your Smile

Photo Link

A whole day set aside to recognize all the good that can come from a smile. Smile power day is a great day. This national day is on June 15. It may sound silly but it can turn your day around. This day has been going on for so long that we do not know when it started or who started it.The only thing you need for this day is your huge smile.
“Do not let the world change your smile, let your smile change the world” someone once said. Even if you're not happy, smile, it might make that person's day better. A smile lets them know that you care. A smile is so much better then a frown. Just think I would you rather be smiled at then be frowned at. If everyone smiled at me in one day I would be in such a great mood. Smiling is probably the easiest thing you can do. Next time you are with people around like a grocery store, smile and see how many people smile back. I picked this day because it feels good to be smiled at.   Make an exception on June 15 to smile bigger for smile power day!!!

Cookie Day

Possibly either chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, lemon or snicker doodle is your favorite type of cookie but for certain, National Cookie Day is one of American's favorite food holidays and it  is celebrated annually on December 4. Cookies, if they're good enough for the cookie monster then they're good enough to have their own national celebration. On cookie day the whole point is to bake fresh cookies and hand them out to everyone around you.
I picked cookie day because I knew that not everyone knows about this yummy holiday and I figured that people should know about this so maybe one day in the future it could be celebrated every once in a while.

National Bald and Free Day.

October 7th is the National Bald and Free Day. This day honors those with a beautiful, shiny top. You don't have to be bald to celebrate this national day but you can enjoy the day with a bald friend or relative. Ruth and Thomas Roy are the two lucky people who created this fun day.We have all these bald jokes. But think of this, the bald guys are smiling because they aren't wasting their money on hair spray, shampoo, conditioner, pony tails and bobby pins, combs, hair cuts and such.

I chose this wacky day because of two reasons: October 7th is Gracie’s birthday and I love seeing shiny heads for some unknown reason.. The sad thing is this day isn't recognized. Maybe just maybe it will start to show up in a couple years. I know for sure I would celebrate Bald and Free Day along with Gracie’s birthday.

Smile Power Day!

June 15th is Father's Day, which is what most people recognize but, it is also National Smile Power Day. Did you know that a smile is so powerful that it can add years to your life, make you a happier person, make someone else a happier person, and it's definitely a mood changer! It is easier for a person to smile than to frown because a smile uses less muscles. When you smile at someone you are letting them know that they are worth your smile, smiles are morale boosters and confidence builders.Smiling can also help someone calm down and it actually relieves stress from their life, as well as making you feel better. On this day you should be trying to change someones frown into a smile. I chose this day because it seemed like an interesting day for everyone to learn more about.

Every year over 50 million people celebrate smile power day. Smiles are very contagious not those fake smiles or half smiles but the happy powerful smiles.Harvey Ball came up with this great day because he felt that everyone should share the power of a smile. Did you know women smile around 62 times a day and men only smile around 8 times a day.So turn that frown or flat indifferent look upside down and show off your powerful smile!

World Teacher Day

Today I am going to talk about World Teachers Day.  This day in history all started on October 5th in 1994, also the first principal was Richard Feynman he was born on May 11, 1918 in far Rockaway, Queen and died on February 15, 1988 in New York City. The first school was built in 1635 in Boston and the name JFK School was the first ever built. The festival is to celebrate World National Teacher`s Day also called Teacher Appreciation Day is celebrated on 5th of October every year.  World National Teacher`s Day was initiated  by the Geneva in 1993 on October 5, 1996 and the international labor organization conference adopted a special recommendation on teachers. The date of this event was selected annually to honor and recognize teachers around the world. The reason why I picked this day is because it`s my birthday, October 5th, and  also because both of my aunts are teachers and also substitute. Both of my aunts really like their jobs. So celebrate World National Teachers Day!

So Happy World nation Teacher Day!
