Smile Pretty for the Camera

Rachael Owen is a professional photographer who started her own business in 2010. Her favorite genre of photography is portrait photography because she thinks that people are more interesting than landscapes. Before a photo shoot, she must email the client the price, figure out styles for the shoot, wardrobes, and the location for the shoot. During the shoot, she tries to make a connection with the client and constantly checks her camera’s settings and the environment. After the shoot, she picks the best photos from the shoot, edit them, and put them to music. After showing the client the photos, the client makes a list of what photos they want to buy. She then prints the photos and delivers them to her client.
Racheal enjoys photography because of the creativity involved and how visually orienting it is, although she does not like that you can’t get away from photography and that there is so much to do in so little time. Her idol is Skye Johansen, because of her child photography in studio, her wardrobe, and her colors. Some of Rachaels hobbies outside of photography include running, knitting, online shopping, and Pintrest. In her opinion, working in a studio rather than outside is easier because in a studio there are not as many variables to try to control.  She gets anywhere from one to nine photo shoots in a month depending on the time of year. Rick Walters has his own studio and prints most of her photos. Dawn Alderman helped her set up her blog, and her husband, Brent Hall, helped her set up her business and continues to help run the business.  Her favorite part about photography is when everything ‘clicks’, when she has time to edit, and when she has great models.
