Life as a Teacher

Have you ever wondered what a teacher wanted to be when they were younger? Well Mr. Schulze wanted to be a doctor. Mr. Schulze has been teaching for nine years at Sunridge Middle School. At first he taught 7th and 8th grade  before moving to 6th grade. Mr. Schulze enjoys teaching 6th graders because, 6th graders are fun but still kind of “child like”. He went to college at Lewis and Clark College for four years and Eastern Oregon University for one year. Science is his favorite subject to teach because it is inherently interesting and can be explosive, literally! Mr. Schulze got hired in 2003 and was 26 years old. Nobody inspired him, he just realized he likes being around kids and teachers. In his opinion, some pros of being a teacher is you get to work with some wonderful people and kids. Some cons are that it is emotionally taxing and time consuming. Mr. Schulze’s brother, Timothy teaches 5th grade in Portland and his sister, Molly teaches high school in Eugene. Both of his parents used to teach in an elementary school; they are both retired teachers. His wife is not a teacher, she works for the tribes.  Mr. Schulze is a wonderful man and I'm very lucky to have had him as a teacher.
