I read this poster that said: “Bullies are like mosquitoes, they shouldn’t exist.” Everyone would probably agree with that poster but for some reason, bullying is still a problem. 1 in 7 students in grades kindergarten through 12th are either a bully or a victim of bullying. Also 71 percent of students report incidents of bullying as a problem at their school. It’s really sad that the bullying statistics are that high and they shouldn’t be that high. I am against bullying and it needs to stop because when people bully. They are basically bringing their victims down and lowering their self-esteem. Sometimes if people bully too much, their victim may commit suicide or seriously injure themselves. Becoming a bully is very disrespectful because you are taking all of your anger or jealousy out on a weaker student. If you hate being bullied then don’t bully other students. You may think you are just teasing or in other words “being funny” but actually you might be bullying and you don’t even notice.
Saying bullying needs to stop is A LOT easier said than done. If you are being bullied, first tell them to stop and if it gets worse tell a trusted adult or counselor. They should take care of the bully and hopefully the bully stops. Remember to treat others the way you would like to be treated. If you want to be treated with kindness then treat other students with kindness even if you don’t know them. All in all, bullying needs to stop and we need to treat each other equally.
