Learning To Play Soccer

Some people say that soccer is hard or it’s a sport for people who aren’t tough. Soccer isn’t what people think it to be, an easy, worthless sport for “wimps”. But there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. There are three main rules to follow before playing soccer: controlling the ball, passing, and shooting.
The first skill to learn to be able to play soccer is controlling the ball. To control the ball, you have to be able to dribble it. Dribbling the ball in soccer isn’t like in basketball where you bounce it up and down with your hands. In soccer, you have to use your feet pretty much all of the time. So when dribbling, you have to maneuver around the players in front of you while still controlling the ball. This skill is one of the basics to be able to play soccer.     Second, passing is another basic technique to playing soccer. When passing the ball, there are a few things to remember. When going down the field on the right side, you want to pass the ball with your right foot, and vice versa with the other side. When going down the middle of the field, you can use either foot to pass it. Passing is most definitely needed when trying to score a goal. This leads us to our next topic about shooting.
Not all players are going to shoot in the game, such as defenders and goalies, but everyone should learn it because it is a basic skill that all soccer players should know when playing soccer. When shooting the ball, you want to aim where the goalie is not. For example, if the goalie is leaning towards the right side of the goal, shoot to his left. The best place to shoot the ball is in one of the top corners. This is one of the places where it is more difficult for the goalies to reach. Also, when shooting, use the same technique that you use for passing. Once these three basic skills are mastered, the other team will have a hard time trying to get the ball away from you!
