January third is not only the my birthday, it’s also National Chocolate Covered Cherries Day. Known to many as a “mid winter pick-me-up” chocolate covered cherries can be either store-bought or homemade. These well known candies are loved by many. It is almost impossible to eat just one of these chocolate covered cherry candies that have combined two favorite flavors into one delicious treat. The candy often times is made with a sweet liquid center but in some cases the center is a dried cherry.

been tens if not hundreds of recipes for the sweet, each just a little different. People have taken the classic chocolate covered cherry, and transformed it into many creative recipes. Some examples of this creativity are chocolate covered cherry drink, chocolate covered cherry cake and even chocolate covered cherry cookies.
On the other hand, if you don’t like candy making, there are plenty of confectioners that make chocolate covered cherries. The three most popular are Cella’s, Queen Anne’s, and Brach’s. Cella’s being the oldest brand. They began making cherries in 1864, but didn’t begin large-scale production until 1929. When recovering from the holiday stress, chocolate covered cherries make a great inexpensive treat.
