Harry Potter, even if you aren't a “Potterhead” you know what the books and the movies are. Harry Potter is an international sensation and is enjoyed by many people. Harry Potter’s International holiday is May 2nd. May 2nd was made the International Harry Potter day because May 2nd was the day that Harry Potter defeated ‘He Who Shall Not Be Named’ (Lord Voldemort). In J.K Rowling’s Seventh Book The Deathly Hallows many characters died in the war, loved and hated characters alike. These character’s deaths all symbolized a variety of different things in the name of the book.
May 2nd is such a wonderful and extravagant day because it is a day that shows that millions of people all around the world love Harry Potter and have shown it throughout the years. Now that the Harry Potter books and movies are both to an end the fans have become restless. All the Potterheads want something else to come out from J.K Rowling. These fans are very dedicated to this “Fandom” and were in need of a day to celebrate their favorite books/movies.
The first Harry Potter book was published on June 26, 1997. J.K Rowling was declined by 12 publishers before she was finally published. This is a great day for all those Harry Potter fans to put wands in their pockets and wear their time turners because it is a day for them to celebrate their nerdiness and not be made fun of for it. Though they probably will still be made fun of they shouldn’t care because those whom are making fun of them don’t understand the joy this day brings to many around the world. This day affects me because Harry Potter has been a movie I have watched for the longest time. This movie was one of the many “nerdy” movies my dad and I enjoyed and would always watch together. So celebrate this great amazing day to which Harry Potter killed Lord Voldemort and join into the celebration with the millions around the world who will be enjoying their Harry Potter day.
