When you hear October 29th, what do you think of? Maybe a birthday, a family tradition, or maybe a day you look forward to being lazy. When I hear October 29th, I think of National Cat Day. For all you cat lovers, forget boys for a day and think about your furry friend. National Cat Day is about appreciating your cat with love and recognizing the number of cats that need to be adopted and or rescued. These pets just want someone to give them attention, like most humans.
Lynx, bobcats, cougars, kittens, cheetahs, and the most famous, the lion, are all part of the cat family. Each type of cat is special in their own way and deserve to be celebrated. This day is truly special for the hearts of the one kind who you can depend on when you’re sad, happy, confused, or just to cuddle. Additionally, there are many cats who are in need of a home and a loving heart. There are local shelters like the Pioneer Humane Society and where I got my special friend, PAWS. There are many loving animals waiting to be taken into your open arms.
Ultimately, about 2.7 million cats are not adopted each year but you can make that difference. These special animals can truly make a dent on your life like mine made to me. Even if you’re not a cat person, they’re plenty of shelters that will gladly take a donation to get all the supplies, food, and medication the animals need. So go out on October 29th, and make a difference in this world.
