My cats name is Lucy, so it seemed appropriate to write about National I Love Lucy Day, since I really do love Lucy. National I Love Lucy Day is on October 15, the day the sitcom I Love Lucy debut in 1951. The creator of National I Love Lucy Day is unknown and it is technically an “unofficial” national holiday.
Although National I Love Lucy Day was made for the TV show I Love Lucy, I don't see any reason why it couldn't also be a day to celebrate all the Lucy’s in our lives. National I Love Lucy Day is wonderful because ¨I Love Lucy” was one of television's greatest shows. Now all the fans of the sitcom have a legitimate excuse to stay in all day and enjoy their favorite show.
According to National Day Calendar, ¨I Love Lucy¨ won five Emmy Awards along with numerous nominations and remains popular with an American audience of 40 million each year. Fans find this day important because ¨I Love Lucy” deserves the recognition of a holiday and for me it’s a day to celebrate my cat, who was named after the star of ¨I Love Lucy¨ Lucille Ball. Hopefully National I Love Lucy Day helps people remember years from now what a great show ¨I Love Lucy¨ was.
