Summer Sugar Cookies

During the summer I always look forward to spending some quality time in the kitchen. As a child some of my favorite summer memories were baking cookies with my mom. This serves as a fun activity, and a great way to beat the heat. This recipe is super simple, and takes hardly any time to bake. That is why I chose it.

Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

The directions are,

First, You preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
In a separate bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until it gets smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Slowly blend in the dry ingredients. Put teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool.

This recipe is fun to make, and a great summer cookie to enjoy with friends. This treat is best served with a tall glass of lemonade, and friends by your side. You can frost these cookies, or use cookie cutters to make fun cut out shapes. This is a great recipe and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
