Reaching the Top

It can be debatable on whether or not reaching a goal is harder than reaching the top of a mountain, but luckily in my case, it doesn’t matter. I can do both. Conquering Strawberry Mountain is a goal I wish to achieve at some point in my life, whether it happens this summer or in a few years. Strawberry Mountain, first named Strawberry Butte, is located in Grant County, Oregon, and with an elevation of 9,042 feet is the 27th highest point in Oregon. During my time backpacking around this mountain, I have faced an uncrossable path due to snow, a very loud lightning and thunder storm, and slimy fish, but never have I actually made it to the top of the mountain. Because the trail to the very top is so hard to hike and is so time consuming, there is really no time to make it to the top and back if you wanted to make it to the next camping ground before dark. It is one of my highest hopes that my family will attempt this mountain once again, and that I will be able to see all the things my brothers and sisters have described. Graves, letters, and a box for the lost are only a few things to see from  the top of this beautiful mountain, and I hope one day i’ll be able to describe them all for myself.
