Bullies in our Schools

Have you ever been bullied, like someone took something of yours or was starting rumors about you. This is not a good situation to be in, bullying is one of many issues in our schools today. To help solve this issue we could have assemblies in our schools that show the effects of bullying, and maybe start some kind of program to help. We could also try to get kids to tell someone when someone is being bullied and have the counselor set up a time to talk to the bully and if it goes far enough have their parents come in.

To begin with bullying has become a big problem mostly because of competition. People are always trying to be better than other people and they also discriminate against people like say someone asks someone else to be their partner for a class project and they say no because their not being good enough to work with them. One way that we can solve this issue is to maybe have some kind of group activity that forces students to be nice and be on the same team every once in awhile. Another way we could solve this is, said by 6th grader Zack “We could have assemblies where they show us about about the effects of bullying”.
Secondly this is a problem that needs to be addressed because when people do something they think is funny like shoving and pushing someone in the halls or calling someone fat or dumb even if they're just joking and messing around it could actually be hurting someone. We could fix this issue said by 7th grader Grayson "We should have more staff out in the hallways keeping an eye on everyone". We could also encourage the students to try to help even just telling the bully to stop might help.

Lastly this is such a big issue because the students in our schools should feel safe and look forward to seeing their classmates not dreading what they'll say. School should not be a place to be scared of, and for some people it is. Our schools should be bully free zones. If we solve this problem maybe with like zack said "assemblies and group events" or maybe like Grayson said "more staff on the watch". If we do solve the problem it will never go away completely, there will always be a few kids who just won't give up. But maybe if we make our schools feel safer for those students who are always getting bullied including SMS those students might feel safer to tell an adult so that the adult can properly handle the situation.
