Gustavo The Great Chapter 1

Gustavo The Great
It was a dark and stormy night and Gustavo, the head turkey at the turkey farm was out for a midnight stroll. Gustavo knew it was getting close to Thanksgiving and he knew that being the head turkey, he would be chosen to be the Thanksgiving turkey that his owners, Mr. and Mrs. Greenhall would be eating with their stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy. Gustavo needed to do something to stop them from killing him after the very adventurous life he had led and is still leading.
Gustavo was known for getting out of dangerous situations like this one. One time while visiting some family in Australia, Gustavo was face to face with a crocodile that he had to fight off with his bare talons.  Gustavo won obviously, but it was a close one. While Gustavo was in Africa he met a lion and that lion wanted to eat Gustavo for dinner. Luckily, Gustavo met a very loyal monkey who was a pro fighter and heard Gustavo calling for help. The monkey came to Gustavo’s rescue and the rest of the details don’t need to be told.
Gustavo had a plan a brewin up in his mind just like the storm a brewin up in the sky. Gustavo had to escape the turkey farm as soon as possible. Gustavo was deep in thought when Melinda, a female turkey from his coop appeared behind him and startled him.
“What’re you thinking about, Gustavo?” asked Melinda.
“Oh Melinda. You gave me a fright! Don’t worry about my thoughts and dreams. It’s not important.” said Gustavo.
“Oh, okay.” said Melinda as she started dancing away from Gustavo.
Gustavo was glad that Melinda danced away from him at that moment. He needed to be alone to think out his plan. So far, Gustavo’s plan went a little like this:
1.) Gather acorns for after escape so he doesn’t starve.
2.) Have Melinda make a flying suit so he can fly over the big fences that surround the turkey farm.
3.) Do a little dance.
4.) Sing a song.
5.) Fly over the fence and ESCAPE!!!!!
Gustavo made his way sneakily over to Melinda’s nest so nobody could hear them talking.
“Hey yo Melinda what’s up?” asked Gustavo.
“Nothing much, Gustavo bro. Just hanging out making some flying suits in case a special turkey wanted to fly over the fence and escape just before Thanksgiving.”
“Melinda! How did you know I was wanting to have you make me a flying suit so I could fly over the fence and escape right before Thanksgiving?” said Gustavo, sounding a bit bewildered.
“I read minds Gustavo. That’s why I need to escape too. Mr. and Mrs. Greenhall are onto me. I read their mind and saved a young turkey this morning. I made a flying suit for the both of us. May I join you?” said Melinda.
“Well of course you may! I would be overjoyed to have you accompany me on my trip Melinda!”
“Well let’s waddle to it, Gustavo! We don’t have much time.” said Melinda. “Here, put this on. It keeps the bugs out of your eyes and helps you fly like an eagle.”
Melinda and Gustavo were off to escape the turkey farm. As they made their way to the fence they heard some bells ringing off in the distance. Thats weird, Gustavo thought. But he decided to ignore the bells and focus on escaping. Melinda and Gustavo were running as fast as they could and as hard as they could when they started to flap their wings. They both started rising up and up and up until they were two miles off the ground, and over the fence. For one second, Gustavo closed his eyes and felt freedom in the air, blowing through his feathers. Then all of a sudden they nose dived into the back of a sleigh with a lot of boxes. A big man with a beard white as snow turned around just in time for Gustavo to see his face before he blacked out. Gustavo recognised this man. The big man with the beard was……
