Ever since she was 5, Savannah Taylor has been playing softball. According to Google softball is a modified form of baseball played on a smaller field with a larger ball, seven rather than nine innings, and underarm pitching. Savannah first wanted to play the sport when she was watching her brother, Marcus, play on his baseball team. Ever since then she has loved the sport. She stated that her favorite position was catcher because she got to see the whole field and what was going on. Although softball is her main sport it isn't her only sport. She also does volleyball, rugby, rodeo and hunting and fishing.
Savannah has been on many teams and this season will have been playing softball for 9 years straight. She explained that you have to do a lot of conditioning like running, warming up your throwing arm, and hitting. Some of Savannahs goals when it comes to softball are to learn to slide and get better at hitting. Savannahs family is very encouraging and involved in her sports and she said, “they encourage me to always have fun and do my best. And they show me a lot of skills that make me better.”
Sports are a big part of Savannah's life and she hopes to see herself playing high school and college softball. She doesn't have a specific college she wants to play for but stated that she would go to any college that was willing to give her a scholarship. She also explained that she wants to go into the marines and that they would pay for her college. Most people have some kind of idol and Savannahs is her older brother Marcus. She said that, “He shows me that no matter how tough it is you always have to give a 110%” To me Savannahs seems like a hard working and dedicated person who will hopefully make it far in life.
